Teaching and learning are two different processes. We teach by first speaking - explaining a process. But the words, hopefully heard by a listener, will not be processed unless the listener is taught by demonstration and example.

In other words, to learn a lesson, teach a method, know and remember something new, you are taught you must participate in the lesson. Watch, look, listen and do it yourself.
